Steven Vincent Johnson: Flying Saucers over the White House

This is an original painting from 1980 that Johnson titled "Oh, no! Billy must be on the roof again!" (see back of painting!) but which everyone else calls "Flying Saucers over the White House" - for obvious reasons.  I don't believe this was published, and the artist hasn't responded to my pleas for an explanation to his title . . . but this is a beauty of an iconic scene, as appealing today as it was 40+ years ago!  Painted in acrylic on illustration board, 10" x 15" signed on the back and initialed and dated bottom right in the image -  and comes double-matted and framed (no glass) to 15.5" x 20.5".   This painting is part of a very special private collection of twelve astronomical paintings, with all sales benefitting the National Space Society, thanks to Joe Rauscher - long-time Space Solar Power advocate, and Director at the Space Development Foundation. These original works have not been available on the market since they were first acquired from the artists in the late 1970s-early 1980s, making this a rare opportunity for collectors.
