This is the final published painting by Powers illustrating the cover of the novel by Gordon R. Dickson, published by McFadden, 1963.  (NOTE: This is a re-titled paperback edition of "Necromancer" - I show this cover for reference).  This early Powers was once taller: Powers cropped it down so that viewers could focus on the painting rather than empty background...So its now a heavily painted and textured work in wonderful Powers "abstract organic surreal" style, in acrylic on masonite 13" x 20" and signed bottom right as well as titled on the back.
