Richard Bober: "Fantastic Alice" Mad Hatter #3

This original artwork, a study of the "Mad Hatter" character created in advance of completing the final cover illustration for "Fantastic Alice" (Ace, 1996) is a marvelous introduction to Richard Bober's genius for depicting literary characters - and this is undoubtedly one of his best character studies ever!  "Fantastic Alice" was a collection of stories based on Alice in Wonderland (see published cover for reference) - and Richard was so inspired by the commission that he produced character studies for each of the main characters!  This one is in oil and acrylic on heavy rag watercolor paper, 15" x 11" framed to 18" x 14.5" and is signed bottom left.  We have three such studies to offer from this private collection, each tremendously appealing.
