Steven Vincent Johnson: Planet Fall (When Worlds Collide)

This is an original painting from 1979 that carries three titles: one given by the collector who owned it (Coming Home"); the one given by the artist ("Planet Fall") and last but not least, its published title, translating from the German, "When Worlds Collide" - because ultimately it was used for the cover of the classic SF novel by Philip Wylie and Edwin Bulmer, as part of the Heyne Verlag SF series, 1982.  (I show the cover for reference)  Painted in acrylic on illustration board, 14" x 19.25" and signed in initials and dated bottom right.  It's a great image, classic!   This painting is part of a very special private collection of twelve astronomical paintings, with all sales benefitting the National Space Society, thanks to Joe Rauscher - long-time Space Solar Power advocate, and Director at the Space Development Foundation. These original works have not been available on the market since they were first acquired from the artists in the late 1970s-early 1980s, making this a rare opportunity for collectors.
