This is an original artwork, one of many interior illustrations Ned created "The Coelura" by Anne McCaffrey, published in hardcover by Underwood- Miller, 1987 (I'm showing the published cover as reference).  This particular work, which depicts Caissa's speedster approaching the coastline of Yellow Triad City, is done in mixed media: black and white acrylic/pen-ink with stipple duotone paper to create depth and tonal variety without paint, and touches of blue pen for the edge of the rocks.  Interestingly this very same piece was used as an interior for "The Pnume" by Jack Vance, on page 3 - published the same year by Underwood-Miller.    Hand drawn on thin scratch board, 15" x 10"  with some discoloration on the edges from tape.    - but the image still is great!
