This is the original painting used to illustrate the cover of the ninth volume in DAW's series 'Year's Best Horror IX"  Edited by Karl Edward Wagner and published 1991 (I show the published cover for reference) Painted in Acrylic on board, 21" x 14" matted and framed under glass to 28" x 21".   One of the very few paintings by Whelan depicting a horror scene, this painting is part of a private collection acquired 1993, and now returning to the market.  Because of the size I would not want to ship this large and handsome painting under glass  - so it will be removed before shipping
