Michael Whelan: "Dreamfall" prelim

This is an original preliminary painting by Michael Whelan, the only one by this well-known artist to be on offer from this current private collection - and it is a marvelous demonstration of the artistic style and imagination that set him apart from other artists of his generation.  The painting was created in advance of completing the final painting for the cover of a 1996 Tor science fiction novel by Hugo Award-winning author Joan D. Vinge, the third and final book in her Cat series following the novels Psion and Catspaw.  Painted in monochrome acrylics on board, the artwork is c. 10.5" x 8" and comes custom framed to 18" x 14".
