This is a rare opportunity to all the interior "paste-up" sheets containing original artwork by Jack Gaughan, created for the conclusion (part 2/2) to the serialized short novel by Fritz Leiber "Rime Isle" appearing in Cosmos Science Fiction Magazine issue for July 1977 (Vol 1, #2) Back in the day, "paste-ups" were how magazines got printed: scans were made of identical sized sheets of heavy paper 13.5" x 19" (a size calculated to yield - after printing - double page sheets to trim and bind into a magazine of 11" x 8.5" size) to which the text and art was "pasted" (glued) down. Here, we have all the original black-and-white art by Gaughan that was mounted to those sheets - five of which are fully realized drawings, not just "spots" to be used as filler. Several are signed by Gaughn in his usual stylized initials of "JG" See photos. Gaughan was the Art Director for the magazine and contributed many images to the issues, and of course came up with the concepts.... Again, your purchase here covers all eight (8) 13.5" x 19" sheets. The first sheet pp 8-9 shows some discoloration bottom right, but this does not detract from the charm, and most are in excellent shape given the age - see photos. This is a unique slice of science fiction literary history, from a publication period not to be seen again, with artwork by an artist whose name is known to most every collector of SF/F art.
