Herb Mott: West of the Pecos

This is the original  painting created by Herb Mott (1923-2017) for the cover of Paul Evan's western novel, published by Pyramid for the first edition paperback G376 in 1959.  Mott had a long and successful career as an illustrator, well-known for his illustrations for men's adventure and Railroad magazines, book covers and association with the Society of Illustrators in NYC - examples of his Western covers are rare to the market.  Painted in gouache on illustration board, c. 17" x 10" and comes matted and framed to 23.5 x 15".  A copy of the paperback comes with the purchase; the back cover credits Herb Mott as artist.
