This is an original painting created for the cover of a mystery/romance novel by Phyllis A. Whitney, published by Hodder & Stoughton in hardcover, 1990.  Fred produced a number of book covers for this author, dubbed “the Queen of the American gothics” (The New York Times) and winner of an Edgar Award - and each shows his skill in rendering both historical and contemporary heroines in beautiful detail.  The genre here is "paranormal suspense" and the imagery captures the emotional mood....picture this in a large, landscape format, in acrylic on illustration board, 18" x 24.5"  and comes signed.
