This is the preliminary art Fred created for the WW2 combat thriller of a novel by Edward L. Beach, published by Coronet  c 1977, which closely matched the final art. ( See published book as reference) One of Fred's earliest commissions and a fine demonstration of his skill - nicely rendered in graphite on heavy paper,  14.5" x 19"  and it's initialed by Fred bottom right
