Donato Giancola: "Fragility"

This award-winning original painting by Donato is a compelling 2018 oil on panel painting that is part of his acclaimed "Empathetic Robots" series, which explores themes of mortality, the human condition, and emotion through the lens of artificial life.  From the very first, Donato's "Empathetic Robots" were incredibly impactful - his robots were nothing like traditional sci-fi robots  - cold, mechanistic machines bent on destruction; his were emotional, warm, caring, introspective and vulnerable.  "Fragility" portrays a massive, intricately detailed robot carefully cradling a delicate golden egg in its hands.  One of the most memorable of his paintings, it is 24" x 18" custom framed to c. 30" x 24" and is signed bottom right.
