Dave Pether: Evergreen

In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones.   The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks.  Most would have been used 1983-1987.    This one was commissioned for a TV mini series in 1985 starring Lesley Ann Warren, Armand Assante, Ian McShane, and Betty Buckley -  and was based on the novel by Belva Plain, covering a time span from 1909 to 1959.  The artwork still has the acetate overlay for the title.....and is hand-painted in acrylic and gouache on illustration board  12" x 15" and comes with a label attesting to authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.
