This is the original vintage cover painting for historical romance by Diana Pearson,  published by Corgi, 1976.  A beautiful English countryside that is essentially hidden from the viewer in this this panoramic "wrap-around" artwork - one of the few Pether produced in this format.   Pether excelled in romantic historical fiction and produced dozens of cover paintings with gorgeous backgrounds, for major publishers of the time (Sphere, Fontana, Futura, Corgi).   This one hand-painted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, a substantial 14.75 x 21.5" and comes with a label attesting to its authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.  Minor wear and tear, bumps to the corners, commensurate with age on these early ones by Pether -  but all are delightful! If you are interested in seeing more of this type, contact me because I can't list them all at once.  But bear in mind each one I offer is unique - so if you want this one, don't hesitate.  It's the only one like this.
