Dave Pether: The Parallax View

In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones.   The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks.  Most would have been used 1983-1987.   This painting was commissioned for the LWT showing of the 1974 movie starring Warren Beatty - and the acetate overlay for the title comes with the painting.  .   This is a good sized painting, 11.75" x 16.75", hand-painted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board,  plus there's a label attesting to authenticity signed by Pether's widow on the back.   It's a good portrait of a (youthful!) Beatty, and in great condition.
