Dave Pether: The Fall Guy

In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones.   The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks.  Most would have been used 1983-1987.    Most of the paintings still have their original acetate overlay, with text - as this one does - which is interesting for historical reasons/provenance, but can be removed, of course, for framing.  "The Fall Guy" was a U.S. action adventure series created for ABC, which began airing 1981 (and the same year, was shown on LWT which dates this painting from that time)  and starred Lee Majors . . . who is depicted here.  Hand-painted in Acrylic and gouache on illustration board  12" x 13.25" and comes with a label attesting to authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.  Pether created a variety of paintings for LWT for many shows - each of them highly detailed.  I am choosing a few to start, to show their variety.  if you are interested in seeing ones not listed, contact me.  But bear in mind each one I offer is unique - so if you want this one, don't hesitate.
