James A. Michener was one mainstream, well-known author for which Pether received commisions for cover illustrations - among them, this novel from 1953, about the Korean War made famous by the movie that came out the next year.   This is the original cover painting for the edition published by Corgi, 1982. (I show the cover for reference) hand-painted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, 16" x 11" and comes with a label attesting to its authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.  It's an important title by a famous author painted 40 years ago....and if you want this one, don't hesitate.
