This is the original cover painting for the historical romance by Julia Fitzgerald, published by Fontana in paperback, 1989.  Pether did very few like this, a simple portrait that captures the exotic nature of the love affair of "a beautiful Romany dancer whose power over men wins her the heart of an immensely rich but unscrupulous Spaniard"  Hand-painted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, 14.25 x 8.5" and comes with a label attesting to its authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.  I may find more paintings featuring beauties - but this one is unique - so if you love it, don't hesitate.
