Dave Pether: Terrahawks TV Show

In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones.   The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks.  Most would have been used 1983-1987.    This painting was commissioned for one of the most popular kids sci-fi TV shows of all time...."The Terrahawks" - a puppet show produced by Gerry Anderson (of the Thunderbhirds) - and it depicts the spaceships in the show (left to right): Hawking, Spacehawk, Zelda's ship, Terrahawk, Battlehawk and Treehawk.  I show the advertising poster for reference.  Handpainted in Gouache and acrylic on illustration board, 12.5" x  15.25" (missing the acetate overlay that shows the text), and comes with a label attesting to authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.   Great vintage Science Fiction appeal - and certainly memorable for anyone growing up in the UK in the 80s!
