In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones.   The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks.  Most would have been used 1983-1987, and several still have the acetate overly showing the titles.  This one is for a TV mini series starring Charlton Heston - called "Chiefs" in the U.S. and "Once upon a Murder" in the UK.   Handpainted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, the image is in great condition, 11" x 13.75", and comes with a label on the back attesting to authenticity, signed by Pether's widow. You don't have to be a Heston fan to appreciate this one - just a fan of fun TV movies!
