This is the original vintage cover art for a Regency Romance novel by Caroline Courtney,  published by Corgi, 1981 (the cover here shown for reference).  Penelope Halsall was a best-selling and prolific English writer of over 200 romance novels, and wrote 26 books under the name of Caroline Courtney - and Pether created the cover art for at least two of them (Love Triumphant is the other).    Hand-painted in Acrylic and gouache on illustration board  12" x 8.5" and comes with a label attesting to authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.
