In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones. The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks. Most would have been used 1983-1987, as this one was.... for a genre movie, title unknown - but the composition is perfect for celebrating Halloween - and perhaps the subject matter will suggest (to one of you) possible candidates for the movie this illustrates! Handpainted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, the image is in great condition, 12.5" x 13.75", and comes with a label on the back attesting to authenticity, signed by Pether's widow.
