This is the original cover painting for another romance novel by the well-known author Caroline Courtney - for which Pether created several cover illustrations!  This one is a sweet beauty, published by Corgi 1981 (I show the published cover for reference) Done in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, 12.5" x 9" and comes with a label attesting to its authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.
