Dave Pether: Freya ULCC oil tanker

This original illustration is not identified in Pether's inventory as being related to a specific book or publication, but research brings up the fact that the Freya ULCC (ultra large crude carrier) is an actual ship, an oil/chemical Tanker that was built in 1982 and is currently sailing under the flag of Russia.  However, the "real" Freya has a red hull - so Pether may just have used the ship as a reference for this piece of illustration art.   The painting is very realistically painted in gouache and acrylic on illustration board, impressively sized at 14.75" x 21.25" and apart from some discoloration around the edges of the board, is  in excellent condition, and comes with a label affixed to the back attesting to authenticity.
