This is the original cover painting for the novel by Cliifford Hanley, a Scottish journalist and author from Glasgow who wrote a number of books, including this book and Another Street, Another Dance, accounts of his early life in Glasgow.  Pether wonderfully captured that time and place, in this cover for the edition of the book published by Corgi, 1984.  Hand painted in acrylic and gouache on illustration board, 15.25" x 8.5" and Comes with a label attesting to its authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.   See also the second book in the series, Another Street, Another Dance - buy both!
