In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones. The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks. Most would have been used 1983-1987. This one, depicting a montage of images, I believe was created for the 7th season of Agatha Christie's "Partners in Crime" starring Francesca Annis and James Warwick (the pair featured in the painting), and aired in 1983. The painting was done in acrylic and gouache on illustration board, in landscape format 12" x 16.75" and has a label attesting to authenticity signed by Pether's widow on the back. This almost vintage painting is showing some signs age, with some foxing (spotting) in the unpainted areas - though like all the paintings Dave reated for LWT - the main image is very detailed and well done - so I have priced it with that in mind.
