Original preliminary artwork created for the JRR Tolkien Middle Earth fantasy calendar 1981, month of September.  This is a finely done prelim, great imagery, painted in acrylic on illustration board in "calendar" format 13" x 12" and is signed and dated 1979 on the back.  Unfortunately there has been some water damage to the piece  - ironically in the "sea" area, bottom center -  which will require restoration.  Some portions of the painted surface of the paper has lifted from the board and will need to be repaired.  There are also pencil guidelines That DKS used to compose the image.  See photos.  The price I have put on it takes the repair work into consideration.
