This is one of a handful of preliminary paintings I am offering created for the Xanth series of fantasy novels by Piers Anthony - this one identified on the back as for #15 in the series, and dated 1991 - for the book published by Avon 1992.  But if you look up this book, the image chosen by the Art Director was completely different....yet this blue bird DOES appear in print, see "Tree of Knowledge" one of the cards in DKS collector card set, published by FPG 1994.  There, you'll see that he references a similar final painting as being prepared for a book cover.  He doesn't name the book....but you see this very same bird in "Air Apparent".  In any event this is a great painting, ,done in acrylic on gypsum board, 10" x 15"  and signed on the back.
