This is the original preliminary painting for Book #1 in the science fiction "Shanji Trilogy" by James C. Glass, published by Baen Books, 1999  (I show the cover for reference)  On the planet Shanji, "Kati" - a barbarian girl - must take charge of her own destiny, not only for herself but for Shanji and its neighboring worlds"  Very detailed and just like the final painting - which as of this listing is still available - buy them both and I'll give you a discount!  Marvelous combo of SF and Fantasy elements here is what makes this such a standout prelim - done in acrylics on illustration board, 7" x 4.25"  and is signed titled and dated 1998 on the reverse.
