This is the original preliminary painting for the vintage science fiction novel by Robert F. Young, published by Del Rey/Ballantine,  1st paperback edition, 1983  (I show the cover for reference)   It's a great image, practically a mini version of the cover with all the characters in place and in detail.  Painted in acrylics on illustration board, 7.5" x 4.5"  and is signed titled by Darrell on the reverse.
