This is an original painting created for the cover of the collection of fantasy short stories by Sterling E. Lanier, published by Donald M Grant in hardcover 1st ed 1986.   Painted in oils on illustration board, approx 24" x 36" unframed and signed bottom left.  According to the publisher, the image appearing on the book jacket, showing additional details and revisions, was likely created via an acetate overlay supplied by Ned.  A major work, and one of the last remaining large scale cover illustrations.
