Janny Wurtz: "Morgaine at Ohtji-in" Study #1

This is an original painting dating from 1981 by Janny Wurtz - well known author and artist who historically creates the illustrations only for her own books but was so inspired by C. J. Cherryh’s "The Well of Shiuan", a classic science fantasy novel published by DAW, 1978 that she created this study based on Cherryh's Morgaine Stories.  The original paperback cover art for this book was painted by legendary sci-fi and fantasy artist Michael Whelan, and served as the basis for Janny's study (I show Whelan's cover for comparison).   Painted in acrylics  on illustration board, the artwork is 11" x 9" signed and dated bottom right - and comes custom matted and framed to 15" x 14.5".
