John Berkey: "The Hitchhiking Effect" prelim

This is an original preliminary painting by John Berkey (1932-2008), one of a handful from a private collection returning to the market for the first time in 22 years.  This prelim - the second of two - was created in preparation for completing the final art for the story by Gene O'Neil, published in Science Fiction Age Magazine, May issue, 1998.   The art is painted in casein and acrylic on  illustration board,  11" x "12" and is signed "Berkey" lower right.  Great visual effect and fully representative of Berkey's style.
