John Berkey: "WW2 Dogfight" prelim

This is an original preliminary painting by John Berkey (1932-2008), one of a handful from a private collection returning to the market for the first time in 22 years.  This prelim appears to feature a WW2 scene....a dogfight with French Air Force Dewoitine D.520 fighter aircraft in low-altitude action over a patterned green landscape.  Likely prepared as part of his historical aviation illustration series or portfolios  The art is painted in casein and acrylic on illustration board,  approx 12" x "7" and is signed "Berkey" lower right.  It's a dynamic scene, fully representative of Berkey's style.
