This is an original classic painting by well-known illustrator of "super real" western cover art, Verne Tossey (1920 - 2002). created for the cover of the western novel by William Colt McDonald, published in paperback by Avon, 1943.   An illustrator credited for over 2000 book cover illustrations, this painting is a dynamic example in his best style, painted in oil on canvas board, 24" x 16" and comes in an original vintage frame 30" x 22" Professionally cleaned and re-varnished 2024.  A copy of the paperback comes with the purchase.
