Donato Giancola: "Uprooted" Interior Chap 6
Donato's monochrome drawings are prized for their beauty, and this published interior for Naomi Novik's high-fantasy mythic novel provides collectors with an excellent example. "Uprooted" is a 2015 standalone novel by Novik inspired by Polish folklore. It won the Nebula Award and was a Hugo Award finalist and has been translated into at least nine languages. In 2018 Grim Oak Press published a special limited edition of 750, bonded leather bound, with 33 full page monochrome plates by Giancola; a frontispiece and one illustration for each chapter. This artwork was featured in Chapter 6, and Donato called this one "The Library" and it is 14" x 11" in Watercolor Pencil and Chalk on Toned Paper, and is signed "Donato" bottom left in the image.
