This is the original cover illustration - created via two separate paintings - commissioned for another/companion southern gothic novel by Anne Rivers Siddons, by HarperCollins for a paperback edition, 1992.  I cannot find a reference for the published version, so it's possible it wasn't used.  Like "Outer Banks" - for which Pether also created the cover illustration - the central image features the same model, in a sensual pose, in a painting approx. 10.5" x 11" (then matted, see photo), while the seascape/background is a separate painting on a larger board,  11.5" x 17" (which has a small tear bottom right) Both are painted in acrylic and gouache on illustration board, plus labels attesting authenticity from the Estate.  You receive both paintings in your purchase!
