Bob Walters: "Deinonychus"

This is an original painting of  a real predatory dinosaur that lived in North America during the Early Cretaceous period, about 115 to 108 million years ago - and if it looks familiar to you,  that's because it looks very much like the Velociraptors seen in the movie "Jurassic Park".   Unlike those and other scaly movie monsters however, scientists believe Deinonychus was covered in feathers and looked similar to a large, flightless bird of prey. Although the "Velociraptors" in the Jurassic Park movie were actually modeled directly after Deinonychus because the author and filmmakers thought the name sounded more dramatic (plus real Velociraptor was much smaller). Bob Walters and Tess Kissinger form the Bob & Tess team that run their own palaeoart studio and Bob is a master at creating great dinsaur paintings!  This one is painted in acrylics, 10"x 16" framed to 18.5" x 25" and is signed and dated 1985 by Walters botttom right under the image.
