This is an original painting commissioned by Panther books, in the 1970s for the cover of Keith Roberts' alternative history science fiction novel "Pavane" - though as you can see from the published cover, a different Haberfield painting was chosen for their 1974 edition.  An exquisite example of Haberfield's imagination, this is one heck of a memorable image - and Hand-painted in gouache on artboard, 17" x 12.75"
