Angus Mckie: "Book of the Damned"
This is the original painting created by McKie for the 1979 Intercontinental Publishers edition of Charles Fort's "foundational" 1919 collection of anomalous and unexplained phenomena that mainstream science chose to ignore or reject (the "damned" data) McKie's vivid, detailed and surreal sci-fi illustration subsequently was used as the cover for several international speculative fiction paperbacks, including the French novel "Les renégats d'Ixa" (1981) and the German anthology "Planet ohne Hoffnung" Published by Droemer Knaur for the Knaur Science Fiction series, 1981. (I show the cover for that edition here) The image was also prominently featured alongside other legendary sci-fi artists of the era in commercial art collections like Heroic Dreams, 1987. Painted in acrylics on illustration board, Image dimensions 21.5" x 13.5", signed by the artist bottom right and comes framed.
